Les contre-écrous métalliques DIN 7967 sont généralement utilisés pour l'assemblage de pièces légères en métal ou en plastique. Ils ne sont pas adaptés aux fortes contraintes axiales. Ils sont également utilisés lorsque les pièces à fixer présentent un filetage de grande taille par rapport à leur poids.
