Technical History and International Equivalents of DIN EN 14399 10
In Europe there are two solutions to achieve the necessary ductility of bolt/nut/washer assemblies: system HR and HV. Both systems are well proved, however it is important to avoid mixing up the components of both systems. For this reason the systems are standardized in one single part and the marking of the components of the same system is uniform (Table 1). Preloaded bolted assemblies are very sensitive to differencies in manufacture and lubrification; it is important that the assembly is supplied by one manufacturer who is always responsible for the function of the assembly and the coating. It is necessary the CE marking on packages/boxes and/or the accompanying commercial documents. In addition to individual components suitability, the norm also supplies a procedure how to achieve the right preload for the assembly functionality.
